Lumissil IS31FL3713 4×3 Matrix LED Driver with Integrated Boost

Low-power LED driver with boost and autonomous animation

Lumissil IS31FL3713 LED driver

The Lumissil IS31FL3713 is a 4×3 matrix LED driver designed to control up to 12 individual LEDs or four RGB LEDs in compact, battery-powered applications. An integrated synchronous boost converter operates at 1MHz, supports inductors as small as 1μH and eliminates the need for an external conversion stage.

Operating from a 2.2V to 5.5V supply, the IS31FL3713 combines 1.1mA typical operational current with 0.3μA hardware shutdown current. Its boost output is programmable from 3.0V to 5.0V in 100mV steps, enabling designers to match the supply rail to LED forward voltage and reduce power dissipation. Selectable 4×3, 3×3, 2×2, 1×3 and direct-drive 4-channel scan modes provide flexibility for different LED configurations.

An autonomous animation engine reduces host MCU interaction by storing up to 12 independent LED patterns. Programmable PWM duty, start, crossfade and end timing and loop counts allow color and animation sequences to execute directly within the driver. A single I2C command can initiate an animation, while the INTB interrupt pin can notify the MCU when a loop completes.

For direct MCU control, the internal PWM engine provides 6+4-bit PWM with 1,024 steps, 8-bit DC scaling per dot and 6-bit global current control through a 1MHz I2C interface. Individual LED open/short detection, fault registers and a de-ghost function support reliable operation in handheld, wearable and IoT applications.

The IS31FL3713 is supplied in a compact WLCSP-12 package with 0.4mm ball pitch and 0.2mm ball diameter and operates across the -40°C to +125°C industrial temperature range.
