USB PD 240W Battery Management and Charger System based on Renesas Solution
This design is a USB-PD Battery Management & charger system capable of delivering 240W of charge for up to a 10-cell battery pack. The USB PD controller handles communication with an AC/DC smart source for more current and/or higher voltages over the USB cable. The 60V buck-boost controller is used to support constant current charging. The regulation current and voltage are controlled by a pulse width modulation (PWM) output from the USB. The RAA489220 is a 10-cell Battery Front-End (BFE) controller used for monitoring system health and system status.
