‘One and done’: The TFT display platform engineered to reduce time and costs

As you might have already figured, making things easier for our customers is something of an obsession for us. They come to us with a challenge, problem or just a really great idea and we do our very best to make it happen. Our latest TFT display is a great example – it needs no host processor, and developers can work directly to the display platform. Yes, it’s a self-contained intelligent system with display.

To make this possible, a powerful STM32 microcontroller with an integrated LCD-TFT Display Controller (LTDC) is built into the display itself, removing the need for an external CPU. This allows for application logic, graphical interfaces and I/O control to run directly on it. There are fewer components (so lower costs), development is quicker (getting your product to market faster) and the whole system is simpler.

And it’s been carefully designed with the demands of industrial and medical applications in mind, which becomes clear when you see the number of customization and connectivity options available:

  • Rich connectivity: With RS-485, RS-232 and dual CAN built in – plus expansion options for I²C, SPI, USB, and analogue GPIOs – it integrates smoothly into existing infrastructures.
  • Scalable display sizes: Ranging from 5.0” to 12.1”, with high performance driven by MCUs such as the STM32H7, so it fits easily into existing systems.
  • Advanced graphics capabilities: Using tools like TouchGFX, developers can rapidly build modern, responsive graphical user interfaces with ease.

For engineers, the removal of costly microprocessor units is just another layer of benefit on a solution which already delivers in a big way. It frees them to focus on application innovation over complex system integration. And the architecture of the display supports efficient rendering and data handling without continuous CPU involvement, so it’s well suited to applications that need high energy efficiency and real-time performance.

In short: It’s a platform that makes makes building responsive, good-looking interfaces a whole lot faster, cheaper and, most importantly, easier.
