Miniature 2.4 GHz antenna for space-constrained IoT designs
The Abracon AANI-CH-0246 is a compact 2.4 GHz chip antenna engineered for wireless IoT devices supporting Bluetooth®, BLE, Wi-Fi®, Thread, Matter, and other 2.4 GHz protocols. Designed around a unique 3D ceramic helix architecture, it combines the space-saving advantages of a chip antenna with the layout flexibility and RF performance typically associated with helix-based antenna designs.
Conventional chip antennas often require large ground keep-out regions, have limited placement options, and can be sensitive to nearby metal components. The AANI-CH-0246 addresses these challenges by utilizing a ceramic-loaded 3D helix radiator that supports installation at corner, edge, or center PCB locations while maintaining a compact footprint and reduced keep-out requirements.
Measuring just 3.0 x 3.0 x 4.0 mm and requiring a keep-out area of only 5.7 x 6.9 mm, the antenna is optimized for densely populated circuit boards and compact enclosures. Across the 2400 to 2500 MHz band, it delivers up to 4 dBi peak gain and greater than 69% average radiation efficiency to support reliable wireless connectivity.
