Resonators

Resonators are used in oscillators for generating the clock signal to control timing in computers and other digital logic devices. Resonators contain a piezo electric material and metal electrodes to produce resonant mechanical vibrations which produce an oscillating signal for a specific frequency. Resonators are used generally where the frequency accuracy is not critical. Due to its low cost and smaller size, it's used in applications such as TVs, VCRs, telephones, copiers, cameras, voice synthesizers, automotive electronic devices, communication equipment, remote controls, and toys.
