The 74VHCT574A is a Octal D-Type Flip-Flop with 3-STATE Output The VHCT574A is an advanced high speed CMOS octalflip-flop with 3-STATE output fabricated with silicon gateCMOS technology. It achieves the high speed operationsimilar to equivalent Bipolar Schottky TTL while maintainingthe CMOS low power dissipation. This 8-bit D-type flipflopis controlled by a clock input (CP) and an OutputEnable input (OE). When the OE input is HIGH, the eightoutputs are in a high impedance state Protection circuits ensure that 0V to 7V can be applied tothe input and output (Note 1) pins without regard to thesupply voltage. This device can be used to interface 3V to5V systems and two supply systems such as battery backup. This circuit prevents device destruction due to mismatchedsupply and input voltages.
