The 74VHC541 is a Octal Buffer/Line Driver with 3-STATE Outputs The VHC541 is an advanced high-speed CMOS devicefabricated with silicon gate CMOS technology. It achievesthe high-speed operation similar to equivalent BipolarSchottky TTL while maintaining the CMOS low power dissipation. The VHC541 is an octal buffer/line driver designed to beemployed as memory and address drivers, clock driversand bus oriented transmitter/receivers.This device is similar in function to the VHC244 while providingflow-through architecture (inputs on opposite sidefrom outputs). This pinout arrangement makes this deviceespecially useful as an output port for microprocessors,allowing ease of layout and greater PC board density An input protection circuit insures that 0V to 7V can beapplied to the input pins without regard to the supply voltage.This device can be used to interface 5V to 3V systemsand two supply systems such as battery backup. This circuitprevents device destruction due to mismatched supplyand input voltages.
