Murata Electronics BLM18K series of high current power ferrite beads (EIA 0603 size), provides excellent noise suppression and low DC resistance for power supply applications. The BLM18K series is ideal for a wide range of applications including DC power line filtering for compact mobile equipment such as portable navigation devices, cellular phones, personal digital assistants (PDA's), notebook PC's, audio systems, and hard disk drives.Compared to conventional 0603 size power ferrite beads, the BLM18K series can manage 1.5 to 2 times the rated current. This series is also capable of handling up to 6 amps, thus comparing favorably with larger size 0805 and 1206 power and wirewound beads at a lower cost. An additional benefit of the BLM18K series is the low DC resistance (approximately 50% less than conventional ferrite chip beads), which reduces power consumption and significantly extends battery life of portable products.
