TransGuard multilayer varistors are zinc oxide (ZnO) based ceramic semiconductor devices with non-linear voltage-current characteristics (bi-directional) similar to backto-back zener diodes. They have the added advantage of greater current and energy handling capabilities as well as EMI/RFI attenuation.
