AVX TransGuard Automotive Series Multilayer Varistors provide wide range of highly reliable, AEC-Q200 qualified SMT components for bi-directional overvoltage protection with the advantage of EMI/RFI attenuation in the off-state for automotive applications. TransGuard multilayer varistors are zinc oxide (ZnO) based ceramic semiconductor devices with non-linear voltage-current characteristics (bi-directional) similar to back-to-back zener diodes. They have the added advantage of greater current and energy handling capabilities, very fast turn-on time, multiple strikes capabilities as well as EMI/RFI attenuation in the off-state. The increasing use of electronics in all areas requires reliable protection against transient voltages as well as EMI/RFI filtering. AVX TransGuard Varistors help to achieve both functions with single component.Available in case sizes from 0402 to 2220, working voltage from 5.6 to 85Vdc, energy rating up to 12J, peak current rating up to 2000A and load dump rating up to 25J. Available in case sizes from 0402 to 2220, working voltages spanning 3.3 to 85Vdc, energy ratings up to 12J, and peak current ratings up to 2000A. Operating temperature range is -55°C to +125°C with no derating. Parts offer excellent lead free solderability thanks to Ni Barrier/100% Sn termination however PdAg termination for hybrid assembly is also available upon request.
