The Versatile Link series is a complete family of fiberoptic link components for applications requiring a lowcost solution. The HFBR-0500Z series includes transmitters,receivers, connectors and cable specified foreasy design. This series of components is ideal forsolving problems with voltage isolation/insulation,EMI/RFI immunity or data security. The optical linkdesign is simplified by the logic compatible receiversand complete specifi-cations for each component. Thekey optical and electrical parameters of links configuredwith the HFBR-0500Z family are fully guaranteed from0° to 70°C.A wide variety of package configurations and connectorsprovide the designer with numerous mechanical solutionsto meet application requirements. The transmitter andreceiver components have been designed for use in highvolume/low cost assembly processes such as auto insertionand wave soldering.Transmitters incorporate a 660 nm LED. Receiversinclude a monolithic dc coupled, digital IC receiverwith open collector Schottky output transistor. Aninternal pullup resistor is available for use in theHFBR-25X1Z/2Z/4Z receivers. A shield has been integratedinto the receiver IC to provide additional,localized noise immunity.Internal optics have been optimized for use with 1 mm diameterplastic optical fiber. Versatile Link specifications incorporateall connector interface losses. Therefore, opticalcalculations for common link applications are simplified.
