The SMCJ36A from Littelfuse is a SMCJ series 1500W, surface mount unidirectional transient voltage suppression diode in DO-214AB package. It features excellent clamping capability, low incremental surge resistance, low profile package, moulded plastic body over glass passivated junction, built-in strain relief and fast response time of typically less than 1.0ps from 0Vs to BV minimum. The peak pulse power dissipation (PPPM) is 1500W at TA=25°C, 10/1000µs waveform, 0.01% repetition rate (duty cycle), peak forward surge current of 200A measured on 8.3ms single half sine wave or equivalent square wave and power dissipation is 6.5W on infinite heat sink at TL=50°C. This SMCJ series transient voltage suppression diode is designed specifically to protect sensitive electronic equipment from voltage transients induced by lightning and other transient voltage events. It is ideal for the protection of I/O interfaces, VCC bus and other vulnerable circuits.
