TLE9012AQU multi-channel battery monitoring and balancing system IC performs multiple management and diagnostic functions for lithium ion battery packs used in automotive, industrial and consumer applications.

Each lithium monitoring and balancing IC monitor up to 12 cells in series with 12 dedicated  high resolution (up to 16 bit configurable) sigma delta ADCs. The synchronized cell voltage measurements allow high accuracy measurement for SOC (State of Charge) and SOH (State of Health) calculation. Besides voltage measurement, it also supports 5 NTC temperature measurement channels. 

It has 12 integrated balancing switches that allow up to 150mA balancing current per switch. As communication between the monitoring ICs and the MCU host is very important, the TLE9012AQU features a differential robust serial communication interface between the battery blocks and achieve communication robustness in the presence of 200mA bulk current injection test. The robust technology adopted in TLE9012AQU allows it to support hot plugging without using external clamping circuitry.

Voltage measurement:
It provides a 16-bit temperature-compensated voltage measurement for each cell enabling high accuracy state of charge and state of health calculations, with a separate ADC for block voltage measurement

The device also has 12 built-in MOSFET switches that can be activated to balance each cell by dissipating energy into an external resistor.

Communication Interface (iso UART):
A standard UART and Infineon proprietary iso UART interfaces support communication with more than 20 devices, with CRC secured communication and configuration registers.
