Relays for hydrogen-power portable HVAC
Relays are commonly used in HVAC applications examples for control of compressor, fan, motor and valve. For Hydrogen-power HVAC or HVAC using refrigerant like R32 & R290, using relays with IEC 60079-15 or ATEX can ensure safety in the presence of flammable or explosive atmospheres.
Panasonic relays like LQ, LD-P, LZ (sealed type) and PF are tested according to IEC 60079-15. While PA-N relay has ATEX certified version. Currently Panasonic relays in compliance to IEC 60079-15 are rated from 5A -16A. Higher rated relays which are commonly non-sealed cannot pass IEC 60079-15. Higher rated relays are non-sealed as there is a trade-off, shorter electric life if a relay is sealed. Nevertheless, due to the demand of higher current required for HVAC, there are consideration for higher than 16A relay. For more information, please contact Panasonic.
