A pyroelectric infrared sensor is a type of sensor that uses the thermoelectric effect of a thermoelectric ceramic (a piezoelectric ceramic) as an infrared detection principle. Through the unique thermoelectric ceramic application technology cultivated over many years, Murata's pyroelectric infrared sensors are characterized by the ability to sensitively detect the human body and reduce misoperation and misdetection. It can be well used in various smart home application scenarios.

Application

Murata's pyroelectric infrared sensors are unique for their high signal-to-noise ratio and high performance. The wake up feature can be applied to many devices, etc. by utilizing the advantages provided by the high signal-to-noise ratio and excellent sensitivity to be able to detect people. The wake up feature can be applied not only to electronic devices but also to OA equipment, etc. with a long standby time during start up. Recent digital home appliances as well as MPF (printers) and other office equipment have a long standby time until they start up after the power is turned on. By switching the equipment to standby mode at the moment when a person is detected with a pyroelectric infrared sensor, the equipment can be activated when the power is turned on.

For smart home systems and appliances, we have developed applications that combine security and home appliance wakeup functions. Due to its good ability to resist strong magnetic interference, it has greater flexibility in the structural layout of the communication module, which makes the overall structure of the product smaller, and can reduce power consumption and extend the life of key components.
