Infrared radiation is a part of electromagnetic spectrum with longer wavelengths than those of visible light, as are radio waves, ultraviolet radiation, X-rays and microwaves. Infrared (IR) light is the part of the EM spectrum that people encounter most in everyday life and is therefore invisible to the human eye, but people can feel it as heat. Electromagnetic radiation travels in waves, just like waves in an ocean. Components like Laser Diodes, Photodetectors, Photodiodes, Photo interrupters, Phototransistors are most commonly used IR devices.
