The TEPT4400 from Vishay is a leaded silicon NPN epitaxial planar phototransistor in a T-1 package. This ambient light sensor is sensitive to visible light much like the human eye and has peak sensitivity at 570nm. Ambient light sensor are widely used to control the display of backlight dimming in LCD displays and keypad backlighting of mobile devices and in industrial on/off lighting operation and replacement of CdS photoresistors.
