In a rapidly advancing technological landscape, the Single-Phase Energy Meter based on Microchip’s PIC32CXMTSH stands as a benchmark for accuracy and resilience. Designed for both the Indian market and global deployments, this meter delivers reliable energy measurement for residential, commercial, and smart metering applications.
Built on Microchip’s high-performance PIC32CXMTSH microcontroller, the meter combines advanced metrology, secure data handling, and robust tamper protection. This ensures long-term stability even in demanding environments. With an accuracy class of 1.0, it guarantees precise readings under varying load and voltage conditions, maintaining consistency across a voltage range of 240V (p-n) with tolerance from -40% to +20%, and handling currents up to 45A.
The design integrates advanced components to ensure reliable performance. Key components include EEPROM (CAT24C512WI-G) for robust data storage, an IR emitter: OSRAM (SFH4512), and a photo transistor: OSRAM (SFH313FA) to enable enhanced optical sensing capabilities.
The device operates at a standard 50 Hz frequency (±5%), supporting a wide power factor range from 0.5 lag to 0.8 lead, making it suitable for diverse load profiles. Its programmable meter constant of 3200 pulses/kWh provides flexibility for calibration and data integration with different metering systems.
Reliability is built into every layer. The meter passes rigorous 35kV and jammer tests, ensuring immunity to voltage surges and electromagnetic interference. It also features comprehensive tamper detection, including neutral miss, earth, reverse current flow, magnetic influence, and cover open events. This offers utilities greater security against power theft and unauthorized access.
