The heavy-duty Battery Management System
The MC33774 is an 18-Channel battery cell controller IC designed with high-voltage battery management systems in mind. This IC has a lifetime qualification with < 2 mV of voltage measurement error over the entire temperature and cell voltage range.
Achieve maximum performance with high-precision voltage measurement accuracy of up to 0.8mV, BUS BAR measurement support with a -3V to +5V input range and the ability to detect the voltage of up to 18 cells per device. Coupled with a configurable on-chip, it averages the high-frequency voltage measurement signals to reduce external filtering by acting as a digital filter.
With highly advanced functions the IC can control passive cell balancing, up to 300 mA per channel. It is also equipped with an I2C interface that controls external devices like EEPROMs.
Key features:
- ISO 26262 ASIL D support for cell voltage and temperature measurements
- External temperature and auxiliary voltage measurements
- On-board passive cell balancing
- Up to 200 mA average cell balancing with diagnostics
- Automatic odd/even balancing sequence
- Timer, voltage, temperature, PWM-controlled balancing
- Isolated daisy chain or SPI communication
- Diagnostics, functional safety and robustness
Applications
- Battery Management System (BMS)
- High-Voltage Battery Management Systems
- E-bikes and E-scooters
- Energy Storage Systems
