The AS6221 is an ultra small high precision digital temperature sensor, ideal for a wide range of products, from the smallest critical healthcare applications to lifestyle monitoring wearables.
The AS6221 boasts the highest precision reading accuracy of up to ±0.09°C, making it ideal for medical monitoring devices. Due to its powerful accuracy, including the AS6221 in various applications can assist in achieving medical certification (EN 12470-3). The AS26221 is also compatible with many different system designs, the short thermal connection and a reduced thermal capacity PCB provides optimal results and the ability to monitor the temperature of air, body, skin and other vectors.
Measuring only 1.5mm x 1.0mm, its compact size allows the AS6221 to be fitted into extremely small devices. The highly integrated digital sensor system requires no calibration or linearization and provides measurement output via a standard I²C interface; it supports eight I²C addresses, avoiding bus conflicts in multi-sensor use cases. Thus, making it highly compatible with everyday wearables such as smart watches and mobile phones.
When in use, the sensor also has a very low power consumption at only 6 µA when measuring 4 samples and 0.1 µA when in standby. Combining its long battery life and compact size, the AS6221 is suited for devices requiring high-performance thermal information with minimal maintenance for long durations. It can be applied to medical devices, electronics, storage drives, fitness trackers and even kitchen appliances.
