USB Power Delivery (PD) is a relatively new fast charge standard that increases the delivery of power up to 100W. The USB Type-C standard allows for bidirectional charging, enabling the product with the power, whether host or peripheral, to provide the power. Power management across multiple peripherals is also optimized, as each device takes only the power it requires, and gets more power when required for a given application. Furthermore, USB chargers may use the USB ports of computers to supply power to other electronic devices.
USB Power PD adopts a single-wire protocol, meaning both power and data can be transmitted over a single cable. It has a range of power ratings for versatile applications, from notebooks and tablets, to smartphones and other portable devices. This Type-C PD3.0 Solution uses three NXP IC, and offers multi-protocol support for USB PD 2.0 and 3.0, as well as Quick Charge 2.0/3.0.4.0(+), with best-in-class energy efficiency meeting all DOE and EU CoC requirements.
