A transistor is an active current controlled semiconductor device that has three terminals - emitter, collector and base and provides amplification and switching functions. The transistors are available in PCB Mount (Surface Mount or Through-Hole) and Heat-Sink Mount versions. The Heat-Sink Mount versions are usually rated for high power and are called modules. These modules could have a single device or a combination of devices for use in various applications.
