Microsoft differentiates between product availability and support timelines. Product availability is the timeframe during which manufacturers can distribute the software. This period ends with the End of License (EOL). Until the EOL date, embedded/IoT OEMs may sell their solutions with the licensed software.
Support or lifecycle period means the time from product introduction until a specific date when Microsoft provides support for the software. The support lifecycle normally ends on an earlier or the same date as the EOL. There are different support options depending on the product's lifecycle.
