Selecting a power supply IC for an FPGA requires an understanding of the power requirements of the FPGA. One of the requirements that must be met is the power supply sequence. If the power supply design does not meet this requirement, a large current may flow inside the FPGA, causing malfunctions and even damaging the device. In addition, each power supply in an FPGA behaves differently, so you must select the appropriate power supply IC. Rohm has released a power management solution that simplifies the selection of such power supplies, utilizing OTP (One Time Programmable memory) to enable easy configuration of output voltage, protection circuit settings, and rise and fall sequences. High current is supported by an external driver MOS, which can be controlled as a virtual single chip by intercommunication between chips.
