Wi-Fi Connected (AWS IoT) Amazon Alexa Home-Automation Demo
Wi-Fi Connected (AWS IoT) Amazon Alexa Home-Automation is demonstrated using a voice-based user interface together with multiple output display options, for implementation of a home automation system. Sensor monitoring, event triggering and on/off control of household appliances is shown in response to voice initiated instructions. Voice I/O and sensor measurements are processed for local display as well as being forwarded to Amazon Web Services based cloud services, for triggering of additional output actions and appropriate voice responses.
LTE Connected Home Security Camera Demo
Like many other electronic devices, today’s home security cameras are far superior to their ancestors. When tied to the cloud, they can send alerts to your phone when they spot suspicious activity at your front door. But not all security cameras are smart enough or secure enough to keep you and your family safe from harm. Avnet has put together a demo of a security system camera which transmits it's data over LTE network rather than relying upon home WiFi for internet connectivity. Combined with the flexibility of the Raspberry Pi development platform, the AT&T LTE IoT Add-on Kit from Avnet places security and wireless capability within reach of any system designer.
Cloud Sense Home Automation Demo
This platform uses the Raspberry Pi Sense HAT and the AT&T LTE IoT Add-on Kit from Avnet for secured wireless access to the cloud where all of the application logic can be easily updated and sensor information analyzed for home activity and environmental data patterns. A series of bright multi-color LED indicators are used to reflect the status of the accelerometer/temperature/pressure/humidity sensors used in the Cloud Sense Home Automation demonstration. This technology enables prototyping for the following Smart Home applications:

- Weather Monitoring
- Residential Construction
LTE Connected Sense Platform for Micro-Agriculture Demo
All sorts of fruit and vegetables are pollinated by honey bees and this natural process is vitally important for nearly all food we eat. The LTE Connected Sense Platform for Micro-Agriculture demonstrates how low-cost connected platforms can enable location tracking and remote health monitoring of bee hives that we depend upon to help grow our food supply. The Avnet Global LTE IoT Starter Kit found in this demo provides a sensing platform that also connects to the cloud via LTE, enabling the design of IoT edge devices that can operate in over 200 countries around the world. The integrated GPS feature and sensor expansion capability of this module makes an excellent fit for Smart Agriculture and Asset Tracking applications.
Avnet’s Visible Things™ is an edge to enterprise IoT platform that connects smart devices with various sensor technologies into a central dashboard, providing access to leading technologies through a simplified user interface. Our dashboard makes sensor and controls data relevant by applying this technology to real world applications. Users can interact with electronic hardware, learn about the electronic components used in the design and connect with Avnet’s engineers for design assistance. Our platform enables gateways to gather and deliver data to the cloud, as well as use the mobile application to configure fixed gateways that can be purchased through Avnet.
