Power Sequencer with GreenPAK
Successfully powering up a system can be tricky. So can powering one off. Timing, order of events, and power levels need to be just right for proper system functionality and stability. Using a power sequencer can also prevent unnecessary current draw while portions of the design sit idle, waiting for prerequisite systems to be powered. Some FPGAs may require more than ten rails, which if sequenced using discrete components, could introduce extra power and board space overhead.
Using the GreenPAK™ family of devices, it is easy to implement custom power sequencer designs in an extremely small area, using minimal power and board space. When paired with the tiny, ultra-low RDSON GreenFET™ Integrated Power Switch, power sequencing with Configurable Mixed-signal ICs is an incredibly efficient solution.
Electronics containing complex, code-based Integrated Circuits (ICs) are prone to lock-ups. This can lead to degraded user experience, damaged components, safety concerns and, ultimately, lower sales. One solution is to implement a hardware reset circuit which detects the lock-up and sends a hard reset signal to the locked-up IC.
GreenPAK™ is an ideal solution for a fully customizable system reset IC. Adding an additional layer of stability to systems is made easy with GreenPAK’s programmable digital and analog components in incredibly small packages. Since GreenPAK is entirely implemented in hardware, there is never any worry of lock-ups or missed events.
Supercap interface IC
Supercapacitors are proliferating given their high energy density versus normal capacitors, low effective series resistance (ESR), and high durability compared to conventional batteries when it comes to repeated charging. To effectively design with supercapacitors, supporting interface circuitry is required for active cell balancing, power path management, voltage conversion, and other protection features unique to supercapacitors.
GreenPAK products are an ideal solution for performing many of these supporting functions to supercapacitor-based systems. Unlike dedicated ICs that are costly and specialized with limited capability, GreenPAK parts are competitively priced, can be quickly customized with programmable thresholds and timing, and eliminate many external setting components.
