Mounting options include:

  • Clip attach, both standard clips and Aavid’s patented Max Clip System™ to eliminate mounting hardware
  • Traditional small extrusions with solderable pins – available for clip or mounting hardware
  • Solderable stamped heat sinks for SMT devices
  • Optional solderable tabs, screws or nuts
 

Max Clip System™

Aavid, Max Clip System

The Aavid Max Clip™ System is a high performance, low cost thermal solution for discrete power semiconductors. These easy-to-use, robust attachments save on labor and hardware costs and increase design flexibility as they eliminate the need for mounting holes, screws or rivets. Additionally, they apply more uniform pressure to improve the heat sinks’ thermal performance and reliability.

The Max Clip™ System is extremely customizable and able to fit almost any requirements and applications. There are over 20 clip sizes that can be used with over 50 standard tooled heat sink profiles that are available in any extrudable length. Registerable custom profiles are available as well.

Optimize your cooling solution while decreasing size and weight with Aavid heat pipes. Utilizing heat pipes boosts thermal performance and allows for a smaller, more efficient thermal solutions. Embedding heat pipes in the base of your heat sink increases heat spreading and fin efficiency. Alternatively, using heat pipes to transfer heat from the heat source to an area where heat can be dissipated more easily enables further design flexibility and better cooling.
