Nordic Semiconductor nRF52840 & nRF52840 development kit

nRF52840 is an ultra-low power 2.4 GHz wireless system on chip (SoC) integrating a multiprotocol 2.4 GHz transceiver, an ARM® Cortex®-M4F CPU and flash program memory. It is the ultimate SoC for any short range wireless personal area network or IPv6-enabled automation application.

nRF52840 supports Bluetooth® low energy, the ANT™, 802.15.4, and user-proprietary 2.4 GHz protocols. Fully qualified Bluetooth 5 and ANT stacks are available for the SoC. An 802.15.4 protocol library and a certified USB stack are also available.

The nRF52840 SoC is part of the nRF52 Series that offers code-compatible devices across the series and simple software migration from the nRF51 Series.

nRF52840 development kit

The nRF52840 DK is an affordable single-board development kit for Bluetooth® 5, Bluetooth mesh, Thread, Zigbee, ANT, 802.15.4 and 2.4 GHz proprietary applications using the nRF52840 multi-protocol SoC. The nRF52840 DK also supports development for the nRF52811.

The kit is compatible with the Arduino Uno Rev3 standard making it possible to use a wide range of 3rd-party shields during development.

The kit has access to all I/Os (48) and interfaces via connectors and there is an integrated PCB trace antenna and an RF connector for direct RF test measurements.

There is also a connector for an external NFC antenna (included in kit). Free software development tools, including protocol stacks (SoftDevices) and software development kits, are available to download from www.nordicsemi.com.
