Hirose has introduced the BM29 series of connectors to provide a robust, high power and space-saving connectivity solution for miniature applications.
 
The BM29 range of connectors consists of headers and receptacles to allow a flat printed circuit (FPC) to board connection. 

With a compact design that has a low stack height of 0.6mm, narrow depth of 1.5mm and a width of 3.16mm, the low profile BM29 is one of the smallest hybrid FPC- to-board connectors in the world.

The connector features a hybrid design that includes signal contacts rated at 0.3A (amps) and power contacts rated at 3A (amps).

Although the dimensions are compact, performance is not compromised, and the connectors are able to offer highly reliable mechanical connection. This is due to the provision of unique 2-point contacts and a long effective mating length of 0.1mm. 
 
Guide ribs are incorporated into the housing body to provide for a wide self-alignment range of 0.3mm in the 
X-direction and 0.24mm in the Y-direction. In addition, this allows a smoother mating operation. 

The robust housing incorporates a metal guide to prevent any damage due to incorrect mating. 

Metal locks are provided to prevent any unintended unmating due to drop impact and increase the retention force.
