A Seven Segment LED Display is a set of seven bar-shaped LEDs (light emitting diode) arranged in a rectangular fashion. Seven segments are arranged as a rectangle of two vertical segments on each side with one horizontal segment on the top, middle, and bottom. If all elements are activated, the display shows a numeral 8. It can be used to show any single-digit numeral from 0 to 9 and letters A–F by combination of uppercase and lowercase letters. It is more simple and used as an alternative to dot matrix displays. It is used mainly in most of the numeric display applications such as Vehicle odometers, speedometers, radio frequency indicators, timers, wristwatches, calculator, digital clocks, clock radios and others.
