November 19, 2009 - Tadashi Oshio Named Avnet Electronics Marketing Japan President

Tokyo -- Avnet EM Japan the Japanese subsidiary of Avnet Electronics Marketing (EM), an operating group of Avnet, Inc, today announced Tadashi Oshio as president of Avnet Electronics Marketing Japan, effective immediately.

In his new role, Oshio will be responsible for the Avnet Electronics Marketing Japan business region and will report to Tom McCartney, former president of Avnet Electronics Marketing Japan. McCartney will remain as the Chairman and the Representative Director of Avnet Electronics Marketing Japan. "Oshio brings a high level of energy, passion and industry experience to this position - which is a powerful combination," McCartney said. "His diverse background and proven success in the Japan market will serve us, and our partners, well going forward. This reinforces our commitment to serving the Japan market, and we look forward to accelerated growth under Oshio's leadership."

Oshio has 40 years of experience in the semiconductor industry having spent 33 years at Hitachi Semiconductor and seven years at Tomen Electronics Corporation. Oshio was in charge of all Solutions Operations as a Board member of Tomen Electronics. His experience ranges from applied system development and engineering to semiconductor manufacturing, development and design to sales, marketing and strategic planning with many years served overseas. At Hitachi Semiconductor, Oshio held various leadership positions including an international position as the Applied Technology Development Director reporting to the CEO of the Hitachi Semiconductor Group.

Oshio graduated from the Numazu Kogyo High School Technical School with a degree in Electronic Engineering and has taken an executive development program at Northwestern University in the USA.
