PHOENIX -- Although it is ineligible for the Oscars, Avnet Inc. (NYSE: AVT) recently won two of its equivalent in the business industry. The company received International Business Awards (Stevies) in the Corporate Web Site and Corporate Film or Video categories.
Hailed as "the business world's own Oscars" by the New York Post, Stevies recognize companies and individuals who set the standard for business integrity, creativity, perseverance, humanity and profitability.
"As a global company, Avnet is pleased to see its communications efforts receive the international recognition the Stevies provide," said Al Maag, chief communications officer at Avnet. "However, winning both awards only confirms what we already knew -- we employ some of the finest communications professionals in the industry, and their work is top notch."
Winning the Corporate Information subcategory, Avnet was recognized for providing Avnet.com visitors with more comprehensive, helpful information than many other corporate sites, including expanded Investor Relations content and the addition of Press Room and Quality sections.
"Great Leaders," a video produced for Avnet's annual global leadership meeting, won in the Intro: Company/Association Meeting subcategory. In just six-and-a-half minutes, this upbeat video set the tone for the meeting while highlighting nine critical qualities of leadership by featuring more than 40 world leaders who exemplify them.
The teams working on both efforts are located at the Avnet Corporate Broadcast Center, Arizona's premier broadcast and video production facility, which brings Arizona's best webcasting/multimedia, post-production and independent news gathering services together under one roof to provide turnkey services for clients.
