Finance team makes change happen for Habitat for Humanity
Avnet's finance team wasn't about to let a little rain get in the way of its fifth year of helping to make a South Phoenix family's dream of home ownership come true. Although they had to alter their tasks, 15 employees were still able to participate in Habitat for Humanity Central Arizona's Camp Habitat program.
The team planned to spend a Saturday installing drywall, but heavy rains the week before made that impossible. Instead, they spent eight hours finishing framing to prepare for insulation, inserting blocking for cabinets and cleaning up outside a home under construction for a family in need.
"Habitat for Humanity Central Arizona values the partnership with Avnet and appreciates its continued support each year," says Liz Pabst-Wanless, Habitat for Humanity Central Arizona's corporate relations manager. "Not only did volunteering help to make the Nhial family's dream of homeownership closer to becoming a reality, but Avnet also helped improve the community in which they will live."
The team's efforts qualified for a cash grant from Avnet Cares' Dollars for Doers program that will assist Habitat for Humanity Central Arizona in its mission to create affordable housing for low and moderate income families.
