Avnet Germany donations bring sick kids joy

When 13-year-old Maike wanted to be able to fly like a bird, wünschdirwas, an organization that provides sick children with unforgettable experiences that temporarily takes their minds off their diseases, arranged for her to fly in a helicopter. Maike is one of several seriously ill children whose wishes Avnet Technology Solutions Germany has helped wünschdirwas grant during the past two years, and with the 11,000€ donated last month, hers won't be the last.

Roman Rudolf, vice president and managing director of the Central Region, presented wünschdirwas Chief Executive Officer Franz Stute with a check during Avnet Technology Solutions Germany's annual kick-off celebration. Avnet Technology Solutions Germany business units raised the funds by dispensing with Christmas gifts to partners and organizing special events.

For 25 years, wünschdirwas has helped give sick children new courage, confidence and energy by providing them with special experiences. The association works with physicians and therapists from more than 90 hospitals and hospices around Germany.

Since its founding, wünschdirwas has fulfilled more than 7,000 hearts' desires. Among those are ones Avnet Technology Solutions Germany made possible, including sending five children and their families to Disneyland Paris, sending one boy to Legoland and enabling another to attend a training day with Bayern Munich football club.

Interns give back

Avnet's summer interns brought a new level of excitement to our annual back to school drive.
