China's children are given the right to play
Imagination and play are the cornerstones of childhood, but for some children, especially those affected by poverty or illness, play can be the farthest thing from their minds. In late October 2013, 70 Avnet employees joined more than 7,000 runners and walkers from 200 companies in China to compete in the third annual J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge run/walk in Shanghai.
The 2013 race benefitted the charity, Right to Play China, a global organization that uses the transformative power of play to educate and empower children facing adversity. Avnet donated $2,500 to support this cause, adding to the grand total of more than $700,000 raised to benefit Right to Play China.
"This event is a very good platform and opportunity to get the Avnet employees from different departments closer, to advocate a healthy lifestyle, and to promote company branding in the race," said Helen Wang, senior human resources and administration manager, Avnet Electronics Marketing Asia.
