As an electronics distributor, Avnet understands that when you do business with us, you are putting more than product on the line. You are putting your own reputation - and that of your company - on the line as well. We appreciate your trust and work very hard to earn your confidence by ensuring the highest quality possible.
Quality at Avnet means much more than meeting the minimum requirements. Quality is deeply enmeshed in our culture and closely tied to customer satisfaction -- driving many other aspects of our business. In fact, as one of Avnet’s operating groups examined what needed to be done to comply with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, it used its ISO initiatives as a benchmark and found that through these efforts 50 to 60 percent of the requirements were already documented.
The following are just a few areas that influence electronic distributor Avnet’s focus on quality:
- Business Policy/Quality Manuals
These manuals provide an overview of the objective, principles, policy, and mission statement for the Quality Management System requirements as they fit our business.
Not only are most of our major North American facilities registered by outside auditors to ISO 9001:2000, some are registered to ISO 9001:2000 + AS9100B, ISO/TS 16949:2002 and ISO 13485:2003 where appropriate. Auditors tell us we have set the bar for incorporating these requirements into our business processes and they use us as a model for companies who say it can't be done.
- Trading Partner Certifications
Avnet has embraced General Electric’s rigorous, data-intensive Six Sigma quality initiative with excellent results. Additionally, several trading partners have certified its quality systems.
Avnet is actively involved in numerous industry associations and professional organizations, improving quality not only at Avnet, but also within the electronic distributor industry.
